Who this is from
AISUM LLC runs AISUM Hackathon 2026, a student competition with UC Berkeley and NYU. Student teams build applications during the event and keep them running until 3 December 2026. The applications are the students' work, but the cloud projects they run in belong to AISUM LLC, so AISUM is the one holding the information described below.
What we hold
- Your sign-in. When you sign in to one of these applications with Google, an account is created in a Google Cloud project operated by AISUM. We hold the email address and name on that Google account, an account identifier, and the times you signed in.
- What you type. Text you enter — searches, descriptions, questions — is sent to AISUM's product-search service and, where the application uses it, to a language-model gateway AISUM operates. Those requests and the results returned are recorded against the application, not against your sign-in: applications do not pass us anything identifying the person making a request. That does not make the text anonymous — what you write can itself say who you are.
- Images you provide. If you give an application a photo or an image address, it is sent to the same services to be matched against products. We record the address, not a copy of the picture.
Why
- To make the applications work — searching products is the service itself.
- To judge the competition. The result depends on how many distinct people signed in to each application, so sign-ins are counted.
- To keep the service working — finding and fixing failures. We may also review requests to see where our own search tools fall short; those tools are commercial products, so that would serve our business as well as the competition.
We do not sell this information, and we do not use it to train models. If either of those ever changes, we will say so here first.
Who else sees it
- Google handles the sign-in itself and hosts the projects.
- The model provider processes the text sent to the language-model gateway in order to answer it.
- The student team that built the application can see the email address, name and sign-in times of the people who signed in to it. They may use this only to run their application during the competition, and may not export it.
- AISUM staff working on the competition — no one else at AISUM.
How long
Until the evaluation period closes on 3 December 2026, and then while the results are finalised. We delete the sign-in records and the logs of requests within 90 days after the evaluation period ends.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to ai@aisum.com. We will remove your sign-in record. The logs of what was searched are kept against the application, not against your account, so they cannot be traced back to you — which also means we cannot pull your own requests out of them individually.
